Swingin' Jubilee TV pilot to shoot in Halifax

The Jubilee Swing Orchestra will be filming a new TV series pilot at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax November 27^th.

The series pilot, commissioned by HiFi HD Music and Art Channel, will include big band swing hits and guest vocal performances by Andy Maize - lead singer of the Skydiggers, Alex Pangman - Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing, NS Music Week winning singer Carmen Townsend and Roxi D’Lite - the reigning Queen of Burlesque and Miss Exotic World 2010 along with a cast of Swing Dancers and JSO regulars.

The 17-piece Jubilee Swing Orchestra has been building a big dance following over the last year, picking up where the big bands of the swing era and Halifax’s Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra left off (including many of the original members).

“The series is basically The Lawrence Welk Show for the modern HBO set” says band captain and arranger, clarinetist David Christensen, “with some observational documentary elements revealed.”

“The guest line-up and classic big band music for the pilot is amazing, and of course you’ll see best the horn players and big bubble machines in action,” says pianist Andrew Killawee.

The filming of the live show will take place from 7 til 10, November 27^th at the Lord Nelson Ballroom. Swing Dancers, Hepcats and Hipsters of all ages are encouraged to come out and Shim Sham the Good Jam. Admission to the show is free for dancers, but on a first-at-the-door basis. Space is limited so that the Lindy Hoppers have lots of room.
